Glenn Close, born March 19, 1947, is an American actress who’s been killin’ it for decades with her mad versatile skills, often hailed as one of the best of her gen. She’s bagged three Emmys, three Tonys, and scored six Oscar noms.

She kicked off on stage in 1974 with Love for Love, rockin’ New York theater in the ‘70s and early ‘80s, starring in plays and musicals like Barnum (1980) and The Real Thing (1983), snaggin’ a Tony for Best Actress in a Play. Her first big-screen gig was The World According to Garp (1982), followed by supporting roles in The Big Chill (1983) and The Natural (1984), each earning her Oscar noms for Best Supporting Actress. She later got Best Actress Oscar nods for Fatal Attraction (1987), Dangerous Liaisons (1988), and Albert Nobbs (2011). In the ‘90s, she nabbed two more Tonys for Death and the Maiden (1992) and Sunset Boulevard (1995), plus her first Emmy for the 1995 TV flick Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story.

She played Eleanor of Aquitaine in the 2003 TV movie The Lion in Winter, scoring a Golden Globe. In 2005, she joined The Shield, then ran the show as Patty Hewes in Damages (2007–2012), which got her a Golden Globe and two Emmys. She hit Broadway again in 2014 with A Delicate Balance. Other films include Jagged Edge (1985), Hamlet (1990), Reversal of Fortune (1990), 101 Dalmatians (1996), Paradise Road (1997), Air Force One (1997), Cookie’s Fortune (1999), Nine Lives (2005), and Guardians of the Galaxy (2014).

She’s also got four Tony naps (three wins), 14 Emmy nods (three wins), 13 Golden Globe nods (two wins), two Drama Desk nods (one win), eight SAG nods (one win), an Obie, and three Grammy and one BAFTA nom.
