Francesca Neri, born February 10, 1964, in Trento, Italy, is an Italian actress and the daughter of retired actress Rosalba Neri. She’s a heavyweight in European cinema, snagging the Silver Ribbon Award for Best Actress from the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists twice—for Pensavo fosse amore invece era un calesse (1991), directed by Massimo Troisi, and Carne trémula (Live Flesh, 1997), directed by Pedro Almodóvar.

She’s also been up for three David di Donatello Awards (Italy’s Oscar equivalent): Best Actress for Il dolce rumore della vita (1999) and Io amo Andrea (1999), and Best Supporting Actress for La felicità non costa niente (2003).

Her standout work in Spain includes Live Flesh (1997, Almodóvar), ¡Dispara! (Outrage, 1993, Carlos Saura), where she spoke her own Spanish, and the steamy Las edades de Lulú (The Ages of Lulu, 1990, Bigas Luna), where she was dubbed. She broke into the U.S. scene as Allegra, the wife of Inspector Rinaldo Pazzi, in the 2001 blockbuster Hannibal. In 2002, she played Claudio Perrini’s Colombian wife in Collateral Damage alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Neri has a son, Rocco, born in 1999, with actor Claudio Amendola.
